Akomanga Kaihanga - Water Safety

Walt: Akomanga Kaihanga - Water Safety

Here's the blog post my Akomanga Kaihanga - Water Safety project...

Hi, our group name is called Island Skittles, our project is about Water Safety which means
we want to help the Year 9 students to learn how to swim safely and prevent drowning.

We are planning to build a swimming pool here in Tamaki College and when we made a
survey there is a 28.6% of students who don't know if they want to have a pool here in
Tamaki College, but 71.4% of students want to have a pool here in Tamaki College.

We came up with great ideas of any swimming lessons for the Year 9 students so in the future,
they already know how to swim and they can teach their children or the other
students to know how to swim. Our group made a survey and it’s all about Water Safety so
we can know if they know how to swim or not at any level. When we made a survey, 28.6%
of students don't know if they want to have a pool in Tamaki College, but 71.4% of students
want to have a pool in Tamaki College.

We also planned to build a swimming pool here in T.C. and if the Year 9 students want to
learn to swim. The Year 9 students in Tamaki College want to have our own swimming pool at
Tamaki College.

Hope you enjoyed this blog and please give me feedback in you require.

Te Whare Tapa Wha - Hauora

Walt: Te Whare Tapa Wha - Hauora

Here are the four dimensions of my Hauora and how they interconnect with my well-being...

Taha Hinengaro (Mental/Emotional)

  • Feelings
  • Thoughts

Taha Tinana (Physical)

  • Body growth
  • Body care
  • Body development
  • Balance - (nutrition, exercise, sleep)
  • The ability to move

Taha Whanau (Social)

  • Relationships
  • Family
  • Friends
  • Community
  • Social support
  • Sense of belonging
  • Compassion & care

Taha Wairua (Spiritual)

  • Sense of achievement
  • Purpose in life
  • Personal identity
  • Values
  • Beliefs
  • Self-esteem
  • Self-awareness
  • Cultural practises
  • Religion
Each of these dimensions represent how they interconnect & improve with my well-being. Click here….

1. Mental/Emotional (Taha Hinengaro) - It's about how you feel, as well as how you
communicate and think through processes, acknowledging and expressing thoughts and
feelings and responding constructively.

2. Physical (Taha Tinana) - It is about how your body grows, feels and moves and how you
care for the physical body, its growth, development, and ability to move, and ways of
caring for it.

3. Social (Taha Whanau) - It is about who makes you feel you belong, who you care about
and who you share your life with family relationships, friendships, and other
interpersonal relationships; feelings of belonging, compassion, and caring; and social
support.

4. Spiritual (Taha Wairua) - It explores your relationship with the environment, people and
heritage in the past, present and future. Your spiritual essence is your life force – your
mauri and improves the values and beliefs that determine the way people live, the search
for meaning and purpose in life, and personal identity and self-awareness.

So if you know “what are the four dimensions and their examples are” and “what they mean to your well-being”, try and keep remembering each of them and learn how to interconnect with “your” well-being and stay on the right path that leads you to a positive and wonderful life.

But, this is just one theory, ever since I started here in T.C. (Tamaki College), a made some new friends here that also improves my well-being like;

Being more happy, enthusiastic and energetic improves my Mental/Emotional well-being (Taha Hinengaro).

Knowing about our body movements and being physical improve my Physical well-being (Taha Tinana).

Talking about our family and where we live, and knowing to support each other improves my
Social well-being (Taha Whanau).

Asking if we can go to church services every Sunday and worshipping Jesus improves my
Spiritual well-being (Taha Wairua).

Hope you learned and enjoyed and you too can remember how your well-being improves you!!!
